2 more ‘pushers’ killed in Laguna; toll in past 5 days now at 8

SANTA ROSA CITY — Two more suspected illegal drug peddlers were killed in Laguna on Wednesday, bringing the total of “drug war” deaths in the province to seven since Saturday.

Laguna police director Sr. Supt. Eleazar Matta named the slain men as Emerson Lacson and Joseph Jones.

As with the previous anti-narcotics police operations, police said the suspects resisted arrest by firing their guns, forcing the police officers to shoot them down.

Lacson was killed around 8:30 pm Wednesday in Barangay Santissima, Santa  Cruz town. Police said Lacson was also involved in robberies.

Jones, meanwhile, was killed in a buy bust around 8pm, Wednesday, in Barangay Canlalay, Binan City. Recovered from Jones were 22 sachets of suspected shabu (crystal meth), police said.  (Eve Matta/Laguna Now)
