Gerry’s cool world

This artist has made a name for himself in the international comics world, having worked on Avengers and other iconic characters. Back home in San Pablo City, he makes use of his talent and passion to help keep local comics alive.

You might have seen his creepy mustached “tito” smile that made the rounds on the internet sometime in 2009 and 2010. The short video of him breaking into his signature smile became viral and was even made into a meme — granting him internet immortality.

Comic book artists and enthusiasts know that this man is not just an internet sensation but also a rock star in the comics world. Doroteo Gerardo “Gerry” N. Alanguilan Jr., also known as “Komikero,” is one of the people behind many popular comic book superheroes. He has worked as an inker for Marvel, DC, and Image Comics among others.

“I have been drawing for as long as I can remember,” the San Pablo City native tells Lifestyle Laguna. “I guess I was just born with a pencil in my hand – must have been painful for my mom,” he jokes.
